For the Weak and Faint of Heart.......Walk Away

Ninos said it best, "Time to get our balls out of the jar on our ladies' desk" so we can start this great annual tradition that we know simply as "The Grudge Match". This has always been one of my most favorite times of the year. The days leading up to the weekend of the first match, no joke fellas. I get so psyched for the first match of the year I get goosebumps the more I think about it. I really have never seen us four so evenly matched then they are right now.

A few of us have really turned it on over the last month. And some of you have really turned it off. To be more specific Chris has turned his game off when he became Mrs. Katie Calogero. I hope the dream honeymoon was fun because your nightmare is about to begin. Ninos has decided to forget where the fairway is and play primarily in rough and trees which is out of his element. You haven't quite earned that title Short Game Wizard with me this year just yet. My partner Vincent R Capasso III its like every time I hear him play a round, you've won another tournament or you just shot 76. Its wonderful what a little technology off the tee can do for some. I guess I will not need any form of an introduction. Adonis needs none. 69-74-72 seems like some nice score at Bethpage. Those are the last three rounds that some of you have been fortunate to witness. It is no fluke. My game won't change. I have evolved. Apparently I have to give Greg shots now. That's no fun. The swami has spoken and has predicted that Team Turmoil will BISQUE all over the hopes and dreams of Cola and Ninos in trying to knock off....The Champions.

I know that this Grudge Match season will have to end at the end of July, but do not fear as this just means one exciting July for all of us. As Vince goes back to Florida to pursue a career of hopefully settling some of our divorces in the future, we shall be forced to reminisce and bask in another great year of golf together. No matter what really happens, it's just great to get the old crew back together on the links and share some great fucking times with some great friends.

A little History about The Grudge Match

There is never any introduction necessary when talking about it. It is just "The Grudge Match". There is a lot of history when there is time to reminisce about the great highlights over the years. Just this past year was a downer for Team Turmoil (Adonis - Vinny) as they were defeated with such disrespect by Cola and Ninos the first three matches of the '07 season. As great teams do, they come back stronger as Team Turmoil took the next three matches and tied the season series. 2008 looked like a strong year for Cola and Ninos as they were the clear favorites to put an ass whoopin on Team Turmoil. But I am sure never in there right minds could they have imagined such an onslaught of spectacular golf play by Vince Capasso and Adonis himself, Patrick Woodfield. Team Turmoil went undeafeted in '08. 2009 looks to be more of the same onslaught over Cola and Ninos.
This great tradition that we so have here is a pretty cool thing. Not many others seem to understand it. Technically it has been going on, lets say 6 years or so. I do not attempt to try and explain to non golfers how this match of ours works. I've said before, if you can't understand it the way us four do you never really will. This is made for TV golf. We are not professional golfers. We are amateur golfers with a professional taste for being victorious, along with a banter for trash talking.
